Impact on: The Future of New York State
The Early Childhood Advisory Council recognizes the impact that a stronger early childhood system will have on New York’s future. That is why we are working on QUALITYstarsNY, a quality rating and improvement system as well as workforce development initiatives, to ensure children are prepared to succeed in school and at work.
Consider why early childhood matters to New York’s future:
$7-$14: for every dollar invested in high-quality early childhood education , New York can expect to recoup $7 - $14 from reduced costs associated with special education, grade repetition, incarceration, welfare and teen pregnancy.
Future workforce: By 2018, 63% of all jobs in New York will require post-secondary education. Children who participate in high-quality early childhood education programs are four times more likely to have earned a four-year college degree by the age of 30 and 31% more likely to hold a job considered semi-skilled or higher.
